Welcome to Improv

-- Dr. Roger W. Teel

Where it all begins!

In this 2 1/2-hour workshop participants will have fun playing basic improv games to understand how improv principles are actually life principles in disguise! Together we begin to access living in the moment, improving listening skills, becoming flexible and spontaneous – and so much more!  We embrace “mistakes” as discoveries and swiftly dismiss judgment!

Building on Intro to Improv, this six-week class explores a basic principle of Improv: Group Mind. This involves oneness, synchronicity, connection to others, plus the exploration of our environment. Improv connects the mind of the individual to the creativity of the group. This class incorporates improv skills with spiritual and life principles – working together works!

This class focuses on Agreement. It’s all about accepting, adapting, observing and moving ahead. Saying YES moves things forward and expands your world of experiences. It’s about making other people (or improv scene partner) look good by supporting what they bring to the game. Spiritual principles based on trust and allowing are incorporated. You will also discover how your inner perception shines through your outer expression. Spiritual principles remind us to embrace our whole authentic selves.

We emphasize Connection in this class, where you will learn how to listen, make eye contact and give undivided attention in order to discover the expansiveness of the moment. Slowing down and living in the present allows the moment to unfold with ease. Staying connected helps the flow of any conversation, activity or improv game. Spiritual principles add support to anchor this into your awareness. This class also reincorporates lessons from previous levels bringing things full circle.
