The Making a Difference Ministries of Mile Hi Church are local and global service, support and relief projects empowered by the generous efforts and donations of members and friends of this spiritual community.
Local Projects:
Throughout the year, the Mile Hi congregation brings its hearts, hands and financial resources to support many worthwhile projects. These efforts include blood drives, monthly collections of food that supports Jeffco Action Center, drives for diaper and infant needs, school supply collections, support of local shelter and for many other worthy causes. At holiday times, this loving
congregation swings into action: 25 tons of food is collected for our Thanksgiving projects, and hundreds of Christmas gifts are donated to bring joy to the annual Christmas projects, Stride and Children Rescue Foundation. Both agencies support education and the path of self sufficiency for individuals and families. Also, special support is provided for the children of the Rosebud Indiana Reservation and CANA – Caring Association for Native Americans. Mile Hi Church is also a founding member of the Colorado Hands in Action - an interfaith group of churches and agencies working together to meet the practical needs of challenged individuals. In addition to these and other efforts, Mile Hi Church sends its gifts and tithes to numerous organizations doing great work to uplift the quality of life for people in our area.
Global Projects:
The compassionate heart of Mile Hi Church is also focused upon needs and challenges around the world. Mile Hi'ers responded generously to the Katrina tragedy, not only sending thousands of dollars to the Red Cross, but also conducting an "Undee Sunday" drive that collected several truck loads of new undergarments and diapers to assist those in the hurricane's devastation. When the Asian tsunami struck, the Mile Hi congregation raised over $60,000 to help build an eco-village in Sri Lanka.
Ripples International is our latest global project and the long term global focus for Making a Difference Ministries. Ripples is an organization based in Kenya that generates an array of projects to provide critical assistance amidst the AIDS crisis there. The core project of Ripples is
an orphanage for abandoned infants. The organization also runs a home for at-risk teenage girls, a vocational training program for these girls, a mobile AIDS clinic, and a testing and counseling service. In March, 2007, our Senior Minister and his wife, Dr. Roger and Erica Teel, visited the Ripples projects in Kenya and returned with the realization that this organization offers a powerful opportunity for this congregation to make a difference in the world. Mile Hi's first effort was to raise $40,000 for the purchase of a new four-wheel drive vehicle for Ripple's Mobile Clinic program which delivers AIDS medications and counseling to Kenyans in outlying areas. We envision numerous projects to support this most worthy organization and its causes.
