Compassionate Communication is based on the nonviolent communication method of Marshall Rosenberg, Ph.D. It is an approach to nonviolent living, which has a wide range of applications as a spiritual practice, a way of parenting, a tool for social change and mediation, an educational approach, and as a worldview.
This class is about self-empathy and provides an opportunity to increase awareness of our inner dialogue, connect with our feelings and needs, and change how we talk to and treat ourselves.
You will have the opportunity to learn and practice:
- Listening to yourself with empathy
- Distinguishing between what you need vs. your strategy for meeting those needs and effective language for expressing them
- The tools and skills to live in our natural state of compassion when no violence is present in the mind or heart
- The ways in which your thinking, interpretations, judgments, and stories shape your perceptions and experience of life
