Sacred Sound Meditation
Heart-Opening Mystical Sound and the Sufi Tradition
with Zemirah Jazwierska and Sára Rain
Wed., May 8, 7 – 9 p.m.,
Vogt Auditorium, Love Offering
Join us for an evening of opening our hearts to the light of the Divine through sacred sound and immersion in the healing vibrations of Sufi song, chant, and wazifa practice—the recitation of Divine names and the sacred harmonies of the alchemy gemstone crystal bowls.
Sufism is known as the mystical branch of Islam, and is, at heart, a universal philosophical tradition that embraces and honors all faiths.
Hazrat Inayat Khan was the first teacher of the Sufi tradition in the West, invited by his spiritual teacher to “harmonize the East and the West.” One of his principal spiritual practices was through playing music, vocals, and dance, as he was classically trained in Indian music and theory.
When we calm our minds and open our hearts, we deepen into the spaciousness of Divine love where the answers to our most bewildering questions can begin to blossom. This sound journey is focused on the power of sound meditation to support us in a sense of the mystical.
The evening features special guest vocalist and guitarist, Sára Rain, a Sufi teacher, and will be complete with a sound bath with the alchemy gemstone crystal bowls for deep restoration and relaxation.
Dress comfortably, bring a pillow or blanket for comfort in sitting or lying down, and arrive a few minutes early to get settled.
